Illumination Sculpting

This research program is developing of an entirely new platform for automatically and dynamically optimized illumination requiring little or no human engagement yet delivering activity appropriate lighting profiles automatically to minimize lighting-energy use.  This powerful, autonomously controlled, and spatially & spectrally adaptive lighting system uses multi-element, beam steerable LED technology combined with real-time sensing of occupant dynamics and advanced control algorithms.  The research team is using virtual reality (VR) tools with sophisticated lighting and interior design tools to create the lighting design and control algorithms testing and optimization prior to hardware implementation.
