EBESS is positioned as a critical node in an innovation network connecting faculty, students, and research staff to like-minded communities in professional firms, building product and tech companies, government and humanitarian organizations, and the real-world communities served by our collective efforts. EBESS’ approach provides physical, digital, talent, and process resources to conceive, develop, and deliver innovation that can create tangible, real-world impacts in partnering organizations and to real-world communities. EBESS resources include:
EBESS events bring the extended network of built environment innovators together around critical current and emerging research themes. The annual symposium is a public event highlighting the most visionary work by Rensselaer, partners, and other industry leaders.
EBESS offers ongoing training for professionals at all phases of their careers. Courses and certificates are delivered to the professional community through formats from one-day workshops to professional certificate and master of science programs.
EBESS testbeds are physical and digital resources that organize many of EBESS research and development activities. Physical testbeds are located throughout New York State and internationally, and provide real built environments that serve as platforms for research ideation and testing.
EBESS connects members with students for summer research or extended research residencies. The Arch semester away and capstone research programs provide avenues to work with students on subjects of interest to the partner organizations.
Rensselaer helps launch new technology development ventures by linking emerging startups with partner innovation incubators and supporting resources to accelerate the commercialization of innovation.
